Daring and Fearless Year of the Tiger
At Strategic Sports, we marked the end of 2021 and the year of the Ox in style. While 2021 was filled with challenges, and at moments it felt like we were at the edge of a precipice, we made it through as we were powered by the strong and conscientious spirit of the Ox. We celebrated both the blessings of the passing of 2021 and look forward to the year of the Tiger.
In Portugal, each assembly line decorated itself with gusto and creativity celebrating the coming of Christmas! The ladies of each line put their hearts and festive spirits to welcome Father Christmas to the Headgy factory. Which line’s decoration do you like best? We will be sure to tell the ladies. Management of the Portugal factory decided on a winner which was given a prize awarded March 3rd.
In China, the lucky draw was held Feb. 15th with top prizes of six cars. As part of our sustainability efforts, the vehicles were BYD brand electric vehicles. Along with cars, 700 other prizes were prepared so more people could win awards. Prizes included smart phones, home appliances and cash. In compliance with local covid restrictions, the lucky draw was held online.
Nie Xiao Ping has been working in our FRP division applying edge trim to helmet shells for over 15 years. Over the years, he has seen some of his colleagues win cars and other prizes but never won any himself. As he listened to the lucky draw go on and not winning anything, he thought, another year of not winning anything and thought of turning off the broadcast but instead kept listening. At the end, when the names of the winner of the cars were being announced, he could not believe hearing his name!
Li Ying Fang joined Strategic as a plastic production engineer straight from technical school. However, lacking in experience and technical expertise, Strategic sent him out for training. He was not even sure if he would have a future at Strategic. Returning from training, he persevered and on the night of the lucky draw, he held his phone close so he could hear each name hoping he would win a prize…any prize. With the calling out of each name, he was happy for his colleagues for winning yet disappointed he had won nothing. Li would have been happy with winning any prize but delighted that in the last moments of the broadcast his name was called: he had won a car!
As of Feb. 16, Strategic China’s staff return ratio was 95% as many people wanted to qualify for the lucky draw. Some departments have lower return rates but the overall return ratio of 95% met our targets.
We look forward to the Year of the Tiger as we will be daring and fearless! Together with our customers and supply partners we will meet the challenges of shortages, rising costs and market fluctuations.
