Strategic Sports Wins 2025 Red Dot Award for Next-Gen Sustainable S-460 RMR Cycling Helmet
Strategic Sports has received its second consecutive Red Dot Award, this time for the 2025 S-460 RMR, a breakthrough in sustainable urban cycling helmet design. The updated model builds on the foundation of last year’s award-winning S-460, introducing two significant innovations: a removable, rechargeable LED light and the integration of ERT (Energy Reduction Technology)—a proprietary, impact-absorbing polymer layer engineered to reduce both linear and rotational forces during a crash.
The S-460 RMR is crafted entirely from reclaimed and recyclable materials, including ABS, EPS, PET, polyamide, and now ERT. Designed with a glue-free assembly, each component can be easily separated and recycled by material type—an essential step in eliminating composite waste. Even the LED light is designed to be recyclable and serviceable, unlike most built-in lights that end up as electronic landfill.
These technical advances enhance the helmet’s protective performance while reinforcing Strategic Sports’ long-term commitment to circular product design. The result is a sleek, urban-styled helmet that not only meets CE and CPSC safety standards, but also minimizes its environmental impact over its entire lifecycle.
“With the addition of ERT and a fully recyclable LED lighting system, the S-460 RMR shows what’s possible when safety, sustainability, and smart design come together,” said Norman Cheng, Managing Director at Strategic Sports. “This helmet reflects our mission to protect not just riders—but the planet, too.”
Established in 1955, the Red Dot Design Award is one of the most prestigious and globally recognized competitions for product design. Judged by an independent panel of design experts, the award honors products that demonstrate outstanding innovation, functionality, and quality. Winning a Red Dot signals excellence on a global stage and sets a benchmark for usability, aesthetics, and forward-thinking design across industries.
The 2025 S-460 RMR marks a new chapter in eco-conscious helmets—delivering next-generation protection for today’s urban cyclist.
